Over this past week, I took an hour off from my daily schedule and took a delectable sauna bath. In fact, every time I achieve something I consider to be difficult, I will reward myself with a sauna bath. To me, it’s unlike any other kind of indulgence. A sauna bath is like the gift that keeps on giving.
When I get in my sauna for a bath, I immediately feel like I am in another place. It’s not like your average bathtub session, where you soak in water and feel your fingers and toes get prune-y within the hour. In a sauna bath, you are in an enclosed room and the steam that touches your skin makes you feel refreshed and because you are constantly wiping away your sweat, you don’t have to feel soggy either.
I even made my daily home sauna bath into an aromatic encounter. I added some lavender oils to the hot coals along with the water so that the steam that rose up out of it smelled wonderful. It took aromatherapy to a whole different level. Not only did my nose open up, the scent of lavender evokes good memories of my childhood when I used to play under the lavender trees in my backyard. You see, a sauna bath is not just a way to cleanse yourself; it is truly an experience.

I own a popular hotel in Vermont and we’ve started to look at the prospect of opening up a spa within our establishment. In planning for this addition, I have come up with many ideas to include. I surveyed many people within the hotel to ask them what they would prefer to see if we were to have a spa because it’s always important to directly ask the clientele you are serving. Apparently, the most resounding responses told us to bring in saunas.
The purpose of a spa is to cater to all your leisure needs and encourage you to unwind while you receive quality treatment. With saunas, this takes it to the next level because you can directly contribute to your own relaxation by sitting down and enjoying the luxurious warmth. You don’t need a massage therapist there to make you feel like jelly. Although if you would like, you can get a massage and then go to one of the saunas afterwards. It would be like a double-treatment with twice the sauna benefits.
After much discussion with my staff, we are planning to purchase several large model saunas and put them in rooms that seat more than four people. Then we will also buy the smaller models for the person who wants to have a solitary repose to himself. We would charge slightly more for this service but I have no doubt that it would be worth it.

A steam room, which operates with a steam generator that pumps steam into the room, is a great addition to any place. Whether you have a personal one in your home or you use one at the local spa, you will find your experience to be immensely enjoyable. As a veteran user of the steam room (I used the spa steam room before I went out and bought my own), I do have some pointers and tips to give you for a completely safe and pleasurable time.
The first thing to do before you enter a steam room is to make sure that you don’t have any heart or skin conditions that would be heavily affected by the humidity and heat from the steam. For example, using a steam sauna when you have eczema is not a good idea. No matter how much you want to, it is not worth your health to experience some minutes of hot, relaxing steam.
Because being in a steam room for an extended period of time will cause dehydration and fatigue, you should regulate how long you are in there. Typically, about 15 to 20 minutes will do fine. If you want to stay in for longer, then take breaks in between and drink some water to refresh your body since it will lose much water over the course of the session.
Finally, the best advice I could give regarding the steam room is to allow your mind to relax. If your body is already in a tranquil state, your mind will naturally drift along with it. Sometimes, if you are too stressed out and tense about something, it will be difficult to loosen up. Make a conscious effort to relax because if anywhere, it’s in the steam room that no one will bother you, especially if you have a home sauna!

I recently purchased a brand new infrared sauna from Gaia Saunas. I think they are the best online retailer for saunas because they have the most extensive selection of luxury saunas to choose from. You can opt for a G1 Sauna which is perfect for one person to relax in or you can choose a bigger model that is able to seat up to four to five people! My favorite part about their saunas is that they encourage healthy living. The general sauna benefits are well known but Gaia seems to bolster it even more with their wonderful features and quality construction. The following are some of the valuable sauna benefits that Gaia Saunas’ models offer:
Helps circulate blood — The warmth of the sauna will cause for your heart to pump faster and in turn improve your rate of blood circulation throughout your body.
Aids in curing ailments — When your body gets hot, it begins to go into defense-mode where it will boost your immune system in order to fight off all the internal bad cells. In addition, a great sauna benefit is its capacity to help you get over cold symptoms. The heat will open up your nasal passages and allow for easier breathing.
Weight loss — The heat that is emitted from a sauna will directly promote for your body to perspire. This is able to expel all the harmful toxins that are carried through your sweat. In addition, it will also force out a lot of your water weight that composes a large part of your body mass.
Skin purification — Sweating in a sauna naturally ejects all the bacteria and toxic substances from pollution that settle on your skin. You will come out with a soft and youthful glow.
Muscle relaxation — Stress often builds up in your muscles resulting in various aches and pains. The heat from the sauna will diffuse this tension and relaxes the muscles.
Ultimately, I don’t even have to list the countless amount of sauna benefits for you to understand that the sauna is a well of health advantages. Purchase a Gaia Sauna and see so for yourself.

I took the day off today from work so that I could enjoy my new luxury Gaia Sauna. After non-stop slaving over my 9-5 gig, I figured that I needed a good pick-me-up. I couldn’t travel to an exotic foreign country in a day so I thought, “Why not spend that time in my new state-of-the-art six-person sauna?” From this experience, I learned a great deal about cleansing my body and soul. The following are some tips on how to sauna by yourself and achieve that same goal:
-Try to wear as little as possible: Simplicity is key. When you are in a state of undress, you automatically feel more vulnerable but also more open. Especially if you are by yourself, you have to be clear in order to start clearing your mind. That means no dangling jewelry or distracting articles.
-Relax: Sit back for a few minutes as the heat permeates your pores and you feel it on your insides. As you get into a deep state of meditation, you will feel your whole soul lift itself outside of your body.
-Take breaks: Yes, sometimes, you have to take a break from…taking a break. In infrared saunas, it’s important that you moderate your time wisely because too much heat will cause fatigue and dehydration. Every twenty minutes or so, go outside for a breather and drink plenty of water to replenish yourself.
After you are done with your sauna session, you can get out and take a refreshing shower to wash away all of the toxins that surfaced through the sweat on your body. Allow yourself to properly cool down before you put your clothing back on. Now you have successfully learned how to sauna!

Sauna suits are used to promote perspiration in hopes to lose a lot of water weight. Athletes use these suits to make weight but many fear using this technique to make weight. The reason is because you are not yourself and you lose a lot of nutrients and strength after losing so much water weight. Those looking to lose weight should not resort to a sauna suit. Rarely do sauna suits help trim body fat or make your waist smaller. They instead take key nutrients out of your system, so you don’t weigh as much according to the scale.
If you are looking to have a good healthy sweat, consider a steam room or sauna. These highly recommended options provide you with a good sweat that doesn’t take a lot of energy out of you. They instead allow your pores to open up and helps release harmful toxins in the body. Without those toxins, you will become less susceptible to sickness and skin problems. So steer clear of sauna suits and leave those for the professionals. For a good sweat, go for a steam room or sauna.
